Community Action Meeting - Whose Schools? Taking Back Our Power!

Join us for a community discussion and action-focused day, centring children and young people’s voices, needs and hopes for education.

We are a growing group of students, parents and carers, school staff, educators, and local community members organising across Hackney, Haringey and Islington, alongside No More Exclusions. We are coming together to confront the challenges in our education system, reimagine what’s possible, build community-led alternatives, and use our collective democratic power to create change.

This February half-term, we are organising a free, one-day community event in Hackney, open to all. The day will provide space to share experiences, discuss concerns, explore solutions, and collectively decide how we move forward. This is NOT a panel event, but will be a town-hall discussion and action focused day led by young people and community members.

We are committed to making the event as open, accessible, and welcoming as possible. There is no expectation or requirement to donate in order to attend. Donations are welcomed from anyone who is able to contribute. Contributions will help cover essential costs such as food and refreshments, a crèche, accessibility support, and resources for the day. Any remaining funds will be used to support future community organising and collective action.

Lunch, refreshments and a crèche will be provided on the day.

We can only do this if we come together to organise. It will take each one of us. It’s time to take our power back!
