Join NME for a morning of discussion, education and solidarity where we will be unpicking some of the key policies and practices that negatively impact children and young people in the school system.

We will be launching a new set of resources which aim to educate, promote discussion and share ideas for how we can safeguard children and young people in the context of this hostile policy environment, including on:

  • Behaviour and mental health in schools
  • Elective home education
  • Ethnic disparities in exclusions
  • Police in schools
  • DfE teacher standards
  • Alternative provision
  • Impact of COVID-19 on education and children's services

The resources have been designed to convey key education policies and practices in an accessible manner, encouraging people to think deeply about the normalisation of harmful practice and feel more prepared to challenge injustice where they see it. We invite you to learn more about and engage with the policies and practices that impact children and young people on a daily basis, particularly at the school level.

This event is the culmination of written work developed by NME members organising across fields of education, research, youth work, law and policy. The resources are based on various documents produced by NME in response to policy changes or calls for evidence from the DfE and UK government.

Lunch will be provided. Creche available (spaces limited).

The building is wheelchair accessible with step free access. There are two gender neutral and wheelchair accessible toilets.
